Our Verdict
Rocky is the more historically significant film — its Best Picture win remains one of the Academy's best decisions, and it defines the underdog sports drama genre. Creed is the more cinematically accomplished film — Ryan Coogler's direction is more sophisticated, and the single-take fight sequence is one of the greatest in cinema history. Both are essential viewing.
